Social Determinants of Health

This conceptual paper shows a compilation and analysis of the information on the social determinants of health with the purpose of bringing the theoretical elements that make up its knowledge base closer to students and professionals of the health sciences, to governmental health entities and to the population in general, due to its irrefutable influence on the health of populations. This information is the result of the increase in research on this field of knowledge, which in turn derives from governments' concern for improving the quality of life of their citizens. The book is structured in order to facilitate its reading and comprehension as follows: public health, concept; social dimension and health-disease process; surveillance of social determinants of health; and disability and social determinants of health. The ultimate goal of this compendium is to promote research on the social determinants of health in order to improve health policies.
