Social-Sexual Education of Students With Multiple Disabilities
Details
This revised and expanded edition of "Social-Sexual Education of Students With Multiple Disabilities" shares international and Bulgarian experiences, good practices, and lessons learned in recent years. It explores how the Covid crisis reshaped approaches, with parents often becoming key mediators between teachers and learners. The book addresses the rise of inappropriate sexual behaviors, the discomfort society feels in discussing sexuality and disability, and the myths that hinder effective education. Emphasizing that social-sexual development begins at birth, it highlights the need for early, proactive guidance rather than waiting for problems to emerge. Teachers often lack training and adapted resources, especially for learners with sensory and communication challenges. This book offers practical strategies and insights for parents and professionals, affirming that all individuals-regardless of disability-have sexual needs and deserve the knowledge and skills for safe, respectful, and fulfilling relationships.
