Socioeconomic inequalities in infant and child mortality
Details
Cameroon's infant and child mortality rate has fallen, although regionalregional disparities are observed. Numerous programs and policies have been implemented both nationally and in the northern region to address this situation. These include the 2011-2015 Health Development Plan, and the country's policy of free healthcare for children under five. A large body of literature has been mobilized by researchers to explain the various dimensions of the mortality phenomenon. They all seem to agree that the socio-economic dimensionsocio-economic dimension explains the phenomenon. However, if the operationalization of the socio-economic concept in studies favours the choice of one variable among many that exist to capture one of the dimensions of the socio-economic concept, or the creation of a composite indicator of this concept, in our study we have chosen to take into account in the same model the effect of each dimension and possibly the interactions that exist between them.
