Details
Physicians constitute an important section, of the society dealing with matters related to life and death of the individuals, warrants scientific inquiry to analyze the social and professional factors associated with their medical practice. The present academic endeavor seeks to ascertain the social profile of Indian physicians on the one hand and the implications of it for their medical practice from a sociological perspective on the other. The findings presented in the book suggest that Indian physicians are drawn from the high social origin with a higher level of professional allegiance, ethics and competence. Further, they are more committed and gratified with their profession alongside ideological orientations. This book will prove useful for policymakers, teachers, research scholars, medical students and doctors engaged in the field.

Dr. C. Somashekher is an Eminent Sociologist. Presently serving as Professor of Sociology in Bangalore University. His areas of specialization are Sociology of Professions, Occupations, Education and Women. He has several publications to his credit and has attended, presented papers and chaired sessions at National and International Conferences.
