soil is the basis for life as it is the foothold for plants on which other lives are dependent. In any ecosystem, soils have five key roles. The knowledge about the soil should be comprehensive and supported with the practical management principles. This book enables to acquire all round knowledge on the introduction of Soil Science, functions and concepts of soil, soil forming factors and processes. Moreover, physical, chemical and biological properties of soils are briefly discussed in subsequent chapters. Emphasis is also given for essential plant nutrients and soil fertility management systems. Techniques of managing problematic soils, soil classification and major soil types as well as diversity of soil organisms, soil chemical pollutions and remediation measures are explained thoroughly. It is intended as professional textbook for students of Plant Science, Natural resource management and soil sciences degree program.

I obtained my BSc degree in Plant Sciences at Alemaya University and MSc degree in Environmental science at Addis Ababa University. With respect to experience, I was Agronomist at Agriculture and Rural development office in Amhara National Regional State. Currently, I am instructor and researcher at Wollo University in Lecturer position.
