Proteins are important biomolecules today as they are used in several fields of our life like food and fed/ dairy industry, enzyme based detergent formulations, cosmetics, leather, paper and pulp, therapeutic drug industries. Proteins are needed in purified form for these application. Purification of proteins has become an important area of research today. There are some chromatographic methods offering high purity but are costlier, while some affinity based non chromatographic methods offer considerable purity and are cost effective also. This book presents a brief overview of some of the traditional as well as modern methods of protein purification.
