Spatio-Temporal Analysis of Population Aging in Kwara State, Nigeria

Population aging is a term for shifts in the age structure of a population toward older ages, caused by longer life expectancy and declining fertility rates. Knowledge of a population's age profile is essential because it is a major determinant of service requirements, labour supply, consumer demand, and potential for future natural increases, development planning as well as, evaluation of the quality of census enumeration among others. This book is an outcome of rigorous research on the spatio-temporal pattern of population aging in Kwara State, Nigeria. The book examined the characteristics and trend of the aging population; factors that shape the pattern of aging, as well as the health and social conditions amongst aging population in a part of Nigeria, West Africa. It is believe that this book will be a useful reference material for academics and students of Geographic and Population Studies and also for policy makers and the general public who are interested in Geriatric and Aging studies.
