SPEAR OF HOPE is an academic and research effort by the highest ranking woman currently serving in the South African National Defence Force (SANDF).
The book traces the integration of seven disparate armies and the challenges of turning them into a single unit. It explores the implementation of Affirmative Action policies with the aim to promote equitable participation and collective management in the new Defence Force. The book shows how Affirmative Action policies turned former enemies into patriots and agents of change and transformation.
Autorentext
Maj-Gen N. Memela-Motumi joined Umkhonto we Sizwe in 1979 and
integrated into the new SANDF in 1994. She is in possession of
Social Work Degree, Masters in Policy Studies and a Certificate
in Defence and Security Management. She is currently the highest
ranking woman in the SANDF and serves as Chief Director
Transformation Management.
