Spikkestad is a population center in the Røyken municipality in Norway. It is located in the northern part of the Hurum Peninsula, closer to the Drammen Fjord than the Oslo Fjord. Spikkestad railway station was opened in 1885 to link Asker to Drammen. The village was named after the farm "Spikkestad", as the station was built on its lands. In the early 1970s, a tunnel was built which made the trip between these places shorter, and most of the train track was closed. Spikkestad became the end terminus of Spikkestadbanen, and there are still trains running every hour. You can also get to Spikkestad by car - it is only a short trip off the "Riksvei 23", which links Drammen and Drøbak. Drammen is the closest large city, only 11 km away from Spikkestad.
