Each chapter is titled using hair phraseology or word play to identify and highlight the focus of the chapter, and to link it back to the overall concept of splitting hairs'.

Pamela Kleemann is a conceptual artist and photographer. Her photo-media installations explore issues of sexism, racism, identity, and the body as a commodity, and are presented in a playful manner inviting oppositional responses, to evoke in the viewer a sense of disquiet and discomfort. She is also a theatre photographer, teacher and mentor.
