Statistical based linear time-varying channel model for the UWA medium
Details
The main cause of frequency spreading that challenges acoustic communication receivers has to be scattering of sound by wind-generated waves, where main cause refers to both frequency of occurrence and magnitude of the effect. There are no typical underwater acoustic (UWA) channel exists, as different geographical sites, weather conditions, seasonal cycles, etc. having a large impact on the delay-Doppler spread, scattering and fading statistics, transmission loss, and ambient noise conditions. Underwater acoustics suffer long propagation delay, multipath and fading, limited bandwidth, and potentially high spatial and temporal variability. For the time varying dispersive underwater channel, successive impulse response estimates are processed in MATLAB software to generate the channel's scattering function, from which all other characterization functions has been derived power delay profile, spaced-frequency correlation function, Doppler power spectrum, and spaced-time correlation function.''Jay Jagannath"
