One of the highest priority uses of water is, ofcourse its ingestion to sustain life. In these days of water spread concern about environment pollution, we are even more conscious of drinking water quality. Soil contamination or soil pollution is caused by the presence of xenobiotic (human-made) chemicals or other alteration in the natural soil environment. Pollution is a byproduct of not only industrial production, but also spontaneous peril effect of progress of mankind towards the dusk future due to improper planning of resources. The air, water, soil, plants and animals all are constitutes of an environment. These constituents keep on interacting with each other to maintain a mutual balance. This mutual balance is known as Ecological balance . Mankind in order to meet the growing requirements of population is unwisely using toxic substances and causing irreparable damage to the fragile ecosystem.In this study the effect of pollution on the ground water, pond water, and river water, sediments and soil of Baroda City and industrial area was undertaken.
