Status of the co-producer of an audiovisual or cinematographic work

The status of the co-producer of an audiovisual or cinematographic work under French law is not clearly defined. This gives rise to two sub-questions, concerning the definition of the notion of co-producer and the regime applicable to it. The notion of delegated producer is sometimes confused with that of co-producer, as the two notions have common characteristics. But beyond these common features, there are also points of divergence. This concept must also be defined in relation to the other co-production partners. As for the legal regime to be applied to it, two possible acceptations are put forward by practice, doctrine and case law; the Société en Participation and joint ownership.
