STEREOGNOSIS VS SATISFACTION IN COMPLETE DENTURE WEARERS

Complete tooth loss not only has an influence on a patient's social life, self-image, and confidence, but also on their ability to function. The satisfaction with replacement prostheses especially removable complete dentures is a key concern since the majority of completely edentate patients are older in age. To meet the biomechanical principles of retention, stability, and support of the prosthesis, complete dentures in the maxillary arch covers the entire denture-bearing area, including the hard palate. This has an impact on tactile perception or oral stereognostic activity of the oral cavity as well as patients acceptance towards prosthesis This book provides an insight about the effect of maxillary dentures on patient satisfaction an oral stereognostic behaviour in old denture wearers and relates it to the patients age, gender and duration of prosthesis wear.
