The first step in his examination looks at evidence of potential engagement between the two traditions historically and geographically. Examinations of their different views on living well, God, and the world reveal worldviews which are far from identical. In particular, the two traditions differ radically in their depictions of the relationship between God and the world, and what one does to live well.
