Stop and Go Economic Growth in the 1980s and 1990s

The period between the beginning of the 1980s and the end of the 1990s is characterised by stop-and-go growth, with intervals of economic stagnation interspersed with periods of unsustained growth. In this context, there was a high level of unemployment and high macroeconomic instability, despite the success of the price stabilisation programme in the mid-90s.
