Stories of Gifted Students
Details
Why do academically gifted students transfer from
public schools? Why do they underachieve;
consciously or subconsciously? What problems do they
encounter at school? How are their relationships
with the adults? Do their family lives have an
impact on their success at school? This book
concentrates on problem issues and answers these
questions. It reveals information that will allow
parents and educators to better understand various
experiences of gifted high school students by
studying the reasons and needs of their transferring
behavior from public schools to an alternative
school. No previous study has traced the
transferring behavior of gifted high school
students. This study reveals the negative academic
and social effects of traditional education at
public schools for gifted students and shows the
benefits of appropriately planned educational
programs that challenged these students. The gifted
students of this study speak out and show how their
educational experiences have influenced their
achievement and contentment at school and how no
matter what happened at school and in their lives
they resisted dropping out of school.
