Strategic Human Resource Management and Employee Job Satisfaction

The study examines strategic human resource management and employee job satisfaction of selected oil and gas companies quoted in the Nigeria stock exchange. The study utilized five dimensions of strategic human resource management without the use of control or mediating variables. The findings showed that SHRM practices have a positive impact on employee job satisfaction. The study recommends that management should develop and involve employees in planning for change strategies that affect their job routine and design that affect satisfaction as a major factor. Managers should encourage consistent training and development programmes as it will lead to higher job satisfaction level in employees and they will fulfil their duties with a great deal of responsibility with best performance. Management should design a reward structure that includes more than just compensation. Compensation and benefits package of employees should be lucrative so that it attracts the valued employee to remain in the organization. Work schedule and design should be flexible for employees to have time for their work, family, and social responsibility. Safety measures should be put in place.
