The author used a qualitative approach to explore strategies that are used by small businesses to mitigate voluntary employee turnover. Findings from this study suggest that training and development, open communication, and compensation and rewards are significant influencers and tools that could be used to mitigate voluntary employee turnover in small businesses. Small businesses in the United States are major stakeholders in creating jobs in the economy.
