Listeria monocytogenes is a facultative intracellular bacterial pathogen with a variety of genetically encoded survival mechanisms to withstand environmental stresses such as heat, cold, osmotic, alkaline, and acidic conditions. Given its unique adaptability to survive in adverse environmental conditions compared to other non-spore forming bacteria, this pathogen is a serious concern especially within the Ready-To-Eat (RTE) food industry.

Samaneh Kazemi was born in Rasht, Iran in 1988. She received a M.Sc. in Microbiology from Science and Research Branch, Islamic Azad University, Iran in 2013. She has a number of papers in international journals / congresses. She is currently working in Vice-Chancellor of Research and Technology of Guilan University of Medical Sciences, Rasht, Iran.
