Metallurgy aims to extract metals from their ores, preserve them from the metallic state and produce metallic alloys, giving them the shape and properties required for each specific application. To achieve this goal, it requires scientific and technological knowledge that has been generated and accumulated over the centuries. Therefore, the "human resource" is its fundamental pillar.It is in this context that the technical course of metallurgy is inserted, aiming, therefore, to form the "technicians in metallurgy". These are professionals who will act, in general, together with metallurgical engineers, in works related to obtaining, transformation, analysis and use of metals and metal alloys.

Genilton Jose Nunes è docente del corso tecnico in metallurgia presso l'Istituto Federale di Minas Gerais, Campus Ouro Preto, specialista in metallografia presso l'Istituto Lette Verein di Berlino, laureato in ingegneria presso l'Università Federale di Santa Catarina, dottore in pedagogia presso l'Università Americana e post-dottorato in pedagogia presso l'Università Iberoamericana.
