Details

All organizations including healthcare organization are composed of services which consist of processes intended to create value for those who use or depend on them (customers/patients). One of the immediate needs of this sector is to analyze these processes & understand it in detail. Equipment having breakdown & being non-functional is inevitable, but the real challenge is to minimize the equipment frequency of breakdowns & reduce the equipment downtime. Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is one of the proven strategies & techniques to keep equipment & system running at peak efficiency. In TPM, there are major pillars such as health and safety, autonomous maintenance, quality maintenance, planned maintenance, focused improvement & team building etc., that enhances the Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) of the medical equipment & also reduces the costs of operation. Thus, this study has focused on TPM technique & set the primary objective to implement TPM for medical equipment in certain hospitals. The main purpose is to improve the OEE of the equipment in hospitals, thereby providing continuous service to the patients by reducing the unwanted downtime & also to reduce the wastage.
