Study on blood of some hill stream fishes of Doon valley

River song found rich fauna of fishes. Studies on the haematology of some freshwater fishes-Labeo dero, Mastacembelus armatus and Tor putitora were investigated. The fishes for the study were collected from different sites of river i.e. Gullarghati [Site-I] Lacchiwala [Site-II] and Chiddarwala [Site-III] . The constituents studied were Total Erythrocytes counts [TEC] and size, Total leucocyte counts [TLC], Differential leucocyte counts [DLC], Packed Cell Volume [PCV], Haemoglobin concentration [Hb], Erythrocytes sedimentation rate [E.S.R.], Clotting time [C.T.], Mean Corpuscular Volume [MCV] Mean Corpuscular Haemoglobin concentration [MCHC] and size of red blood cells. In serum biochemistry glucose, urea and cholesterol level was observed throughout the year. All the observations were done for one year in all the seasons and in both the sexes. In present study all the physicochemical parameters i.e. temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, free carbon dioxide, chloride, nitrates and phosphates of river Song are under normal ranges as suggested by directorate cold water fisheries and research [DCFR], Bhimtal, Uttarkhand.
