Comic, in Malaysia, is a young field. Although not yet competitive against American and Japanese comic, but in the country, it sure has a great amount of audience. Comic has only begun recently in Malaysia, and it has develop an interesting dynamic. It seems to be very popular among school children; Malaysian element and original illustration style are visible. Yet, manga-styled illustration can also be seen on the book store's shelves, labeled with a Malaysian comic brand. With so many unique local identity to inspire from, it seems the Malaysian comic has establish something of their own. Yet, something is keeping the industry from going to the next level. Some readers even argued the Malaysian comic is merely a shadow to the big comic influences. Malaysian comic will only impress children readers. But there is strength in local comic, it clearly holds great potential. This book aims to determine the answer to that debate. Has Malaysia achieve a unique comic style?

I am a graduate of BA (Hons) Graphic Design from Malaysia. During studying years, I took illustration as my major and have since love drawing. I have worked a year as graphic designer; and am currently an educator in music and art.
