Study on Infant and Maternal Mortality in Odisha

The book highlights the research study performed under the dissertation assignment through XISS at Odisha in the domain areas of the Essel Mining Limited in two panchayats Jalhari and Jajang Panchayat of Joda Block in Odisha .The study highlights some of the crucial facts ,analysis etc,in the mentioned areas which were one of the major cause for the infant and maternal mortality in the area. The research areas were highly dominated by the tribal and there was a strong influence of the cultures, customs ,rituals , myths , beliefs etc. High rate of illiteracy among the women , lack of access to the health care facilities , lack of communication , and high dominance of the old myths and rituals was found to be the root cause of the infant and maternal mortality in the mentioned areas .
