Substitution of Bamboo Leaves with Concentrate Mix Fed on Sheep

The identification of feeding and management strategies for animals in farming system requires information on the availability and nutritive value of existing feed resources. There is little information on the utilization of bamboo leaves as animal feed. However during the dry period where there is no pasture, ever green bamboo grass can be an answer. This book can provide bamboo leaves feed intake, digestibility, weight gain carcass characteristics of sheep fed on tef straw. Concentrates are not only expensive but also unavailable. So bamboo leaves can substitute these concentrate mix which are expensive for the Farmers. This Alternative feeds are quiet compulsory for sustainable Animal Production. This book provides a new scientific approach in relation to bamboo leaves as animal feed which is uncommon in most cases.

The author was born in Addis Ababa on January 1974.He joined Alemaya Agricultural University and awarded BSc in Animal Sciences.After graduation he worked for 12 years in different Institutions.Then in 2010,he awarded MSc in Animal Production.And now currently working in Ethioian Instiute of Agricultural Research as associate researcher in Dairy.
