Sugarcane Microbial Diseases: symptoms and controlling mechanisms

In order to maintain the sugar estates in Ethiopia and the world as a whole in good condition and to increase the production and field yield, it is very important to apply integrated pest and disease management practices. Sugar as a crop, it is necessary that the plants have to be taken care off from diseases in a timely manner by attending all the cultural and maintenance operations. Concerted efforts of sugarcane disease controlling mechanisms must be implemented that will improve production and productivity. Keeping in view the actual needs of the sugarcane cultivation practice, this book has been brought out for the use, and it will be of immense help to sugar industries.

Habtamu C. F. is currently a staff member of the Department of Plant Biology and Biodiversity Management, Addis Ababa University. He works on the areas of Plant Physiology and has also contributed a lot on the preparation of manuals/protocols for the cultivation and management of important Ethiopian crops such as sugar cane, citrus and coffee.
