Supercritical fluid extraction: Coriander seeds processing
Details
Coriander seeds have been used in traditional medicine for the treatment of various ailments. Taking into account that operational conditions may influence the chemical composition, thus optimization of supercritical extraction was performed. Influences of three different extraction parameters were explored while optimization of the process was performed by using Box-Behnken experimental design (BBD) in combination with response surface methodology (RSM). Furthermore, chemical composition and antioxidant activity of obtained extracts were examined. This has shown the correlation between the composition of extracts and detected activity. Obtained results demonstrate the possibility of application of resulting extracts in food processing as an antioxidant agens.

Saa graduated Faculty of Science in 2011 and gained four-year Bachelor degree in chemistry and Master degree in Analytical chemistry in 2012. He is currently studying for a PhD in Pharmaceutical engineering at the Faculty of Technology, University of Novi Sad. His current research field is extraction of natural pharmaceutically active compounds.
