Supply Chain Management in Healthcare Industry

Supply chain management initiative in corporate hospital is a change agent as the corporate hospital should lead to change to achieve organizational growth and excellence, create new opportunities, cultural change, enhance customer value chain, develop learning organisation for competitive advantage. The thrust areas of supply chain management can be visualized as: minimizing uncertainty, reducing lead times, improving flexibility, improving process quality, managing demand, planning multiple supply chains, modifying performance measures, moving functions to process, reduced cost, enhanced service, better product availability and reliability. Corporate hospitals can achieve competitive advantage through better quality of service, greater flexibility and by reducing wastage. Because of this vast potential, SCM is gaining prominence across all functional areas of the management. This book is the outcome of my PhD dissertation and I hope it will provide an excellent case study of Supply Chain Management in Healthcare Industry for the global community.
