Support for Resource Management in Crowdsourcing Platforms
Details
In the last 30 years the management and maintenance of business processes has gained considerable attention in both science and business. Languages and notations have been created to make resource management in business processes more efficient and flexible. On the other hand the term crowdsourcing has become widespread during the last ten years. The fact that somebody can perform tasks in a crowdsourcing platform (CSP) and select the tasks he or she wants to perform is different to the intra-organizational approach of Business Process Management (BPM), where employees and their skills are well known. In this case, the requester or employer posting a task on the platform does not know which worker of the crowd will perform the task and which qualifications he or she has got. This gap between resource management in BPM and CSP has not been explicitly investigated so far. Therefore, this thesis analyzes the actual support of resource management features and criteria in CSP and compares them to the support existing in BPM. In order to reach this aim a survey on CSP has been conducted and the results have been compared with existing features and criteria in the field of BMP.
