Sustainability in Constructions using alternative materials
Details
As the world is moving towards sustainability and Net Zero emissions by 2050 in an effort to limit the raise in the global temperatures to 1.5 degree , achieving reduced CO2 emissions in concrete constructions is of at most important in the current scenario. Due to the ever increasing population growth and infrastructure developments happening all over the world ,There is much higher demand for construction of infrastructure and housing. Construction alone is responsible for 30 percent of the total green house gas(GHG) emissions and cement manufacturing nearly contribute 5 to 6 percent CO2 emissions globally. India being the second largest cement producing country in the world , we have a bigger responsibility to work towards alternative materials and technologies in concrete to mitigate and reduce carbon footprint.Alternative cement technologies are an area of increasing interest due to growing environmental concerns and the relatively large carbon footprint of the cement industry.
