This book on "Sustainable Empowerment of DR Congo Rural Women Survivors of War Rape" describes how Congolese women are viewed in the community and how traditions weigh on them. In the villages, traditions discriminate against them, which makes them rightless and underdeveloped. During wars, fighters target and impregnate them by rape. The pregnancies will deliver fatherless children. This causes husbands to expel the women from their homes as they are viewed as social casts. Blaming them for rape kills them morally as they endured physical and moral rape and now grieving with their children. COFAPRI is empowering them through different income generating activities:sewing, small business, animal rearing and cultivation. The victims are also empowered through learning about forgiveness and truth telling for healing from moral wounds. But, the women are still worried of the current political situation in the country. The president does not want to quit power peacefully. The constitution allows him two terms only. The postponement of the election until 2018 has increased people's anger and qualms, which pushed them to street but they were shot dead by the police.The women need peace!

Mugisho Ndabuli Thophile got a Bachelor Degree in General Education applied to teaching the English Language from ISP Bukavu. He has a Master in Conflict Resolution and Peace Studies, from UKZN South Africa. Currently he is pursuing his PhD in Gender and Development in the same university and is a university teacher.
