Sustainability is becoming of increasing concern across the globe. The rapid growth in technologies, increase in customer demands and government regulations forced the emergence of sustainable practices. Sustainability in development and manufacturing of new products is a widely accepted strategy because the environmental requirements need to be imbibed throughout the life time of the product. The modern automotive manufacturing organizations are recognizing the importance of sustainability as a driver for survival in the competitive business environment. Sustainable development is defined as the development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. There exists a vital need for infusing sustainability during early product design and development stages.
