Sustaining Peace, Security and Development in Plateau State - Nigeria
Details
The methodology, information and data described here as 'Sustaining Peace, Security and Development in Plateau State, Nigeria' was developed through extensive fieldwork, visits and observant participation in the state during the author's visit to Plateau State, Nigeria in November 2015 and includes discussions with people of knowledge about the state; the different sectors of the economy and particularly tourism, politics, security and development. My focus was then turned to the causes of conflict in the state despite its richness in resources. Like elsewhere in Africa, the challenges of peace, security, governance and development are not new to Plateau state. The implementation of policy to bring about development has been perturbed by violent conflicts since 2001, financial and electoral challenges and manipulation by forces in and out of the state. As such, the state faces multiple challenges that need extensive research. It equally requires a critical understanding of its geo-historical background.
