A research that analyzed unique characteristics of news headlines. As the first thing people noticed from news was its headline, however it often violated the standard grammar rules. This study aimed to figure out types of special structures occurred in the headlines of The Jakarta Post online news and to find out the structure of headlines in The Jakarta Post online news using theories proposed by Swan and Quirk.
