Synthesis of Some Heterocyclic Compounds Derived From Furan

Furan and benzofuran derivatives have attracted particular attention due to their chemotherapeutic activity such as cytotoxic and antitumor antispasmodic, antimicrobial and several other useful activities. In view of the above mentioned facts, and in continuation of an ongoing program aiming at finding new lead structures with potential biological activities, it was rationalized to synthesize some new heterocycles containing furan and/or benzofuran moieties and to investigate their antimicrobial activities hoping to induce some biological synergism.
