Synthetic Unit Hydrographs in the Upper Awash and Tekeze Basins

Hydro-meteorological data are very essential for the proper development and management of water resources. But these data are not measured adequately and made available for utilizations in most areas. In the absence of adequate data one of the options to estimate the design flow is to develop models applicable to ungauged catchments. One of such model is synthetic unit hydrograph. This Book has been designed as a general guideline for the development of Synthetic Unit Hydrographs (SUH). It shows the easies methods and procedures that can be applied in developing SUH. It clearly shows the relationship between important features of SUH with the catchment physiographic characteristics. This includes the peak discharge, lag time, time of concentration, and other parameters. The models are very essential to fill the gaps in ungauged catchments.

Mulugeta Azeze is lecturer in Bahirdar university department of water resources engineering.He received a B.Sc degree in sanitary engineering in 1994 from Arbaminich University and M.Sc degree in civil engineering in 2004 from Addis Ababa University. He has taught courses in hydraulics, water supply,water treatment, Ground water hydrology.
