Systemic Inequality of Bahamian Women in The Bahamas

This work dissects the feminist issues present in The Bahamas, including the lack of recognition of relevant issues including marital rape and bodily autonomy. Moreover, analysing the cultural, societal and political reasons for the ongoing issues that women in face. While, also look at the influence of religion and religious bodies in The Bahamas. The tone of this work is meant to reflect that the personal is political and that the political is personal. It is through a conversational yet academic tone that I am to engage the reader and enable critical and independent thought.

My name is Bianca Smith, I was inspired to write my undergraduate dissertation on the feminist issues that women face in The Bahamas. I lived there for the majority of my life and I have the blessing of calling such a beautiful place home. It goes without saying that it is idyllic, but that is why I thought it necessary to raise awareness.
