A Study of His Poetry, Criticism and Influence is to rediscover, restate and find new meaning in the beliefs and practices of T.E. Hulme. His work has been a challenge to students because of divergent critical opinion about his achievements as a poet and philosopher. A full consideration of his poetry and thought will prove useful as the commentaries are scattered and indeterminate. Hulme offered an anti-humanistic interpretation of the creative expression in poetry, criticism, and the visual arts. The reliance on fancy rather than on imagination, the religious attitude in philosophical thought, the doctrine of classicism were his aesthetic principles. Hulme shaped some of the minds of succeeding decades. Notable among them were T.S.Eliot, I.A.Richards, F.R.Leavis and New Critics of America. This book should arouse interest in researchers delving into the history of the early 20th century. The book has incorporated the myriad streams of thought in the field of poetic expression, principles of criticism, avant-garde art of the early decades of the 20th century, objective philosophy and the reflection of modernist principles in some of the writers of later period.
