Taking South Africa to Open Source
Details
This book presents a strategic management framework for migrating Public Sector Information Technology to Free Open Source. The framework is developed following a grounded theory approach in South Africa. The South African government adopted an Open Source policy in 2003 yet the adoption of open source has been slow. Until the publication of this book, none of the frameworks and models in the field of strategic management addressed the problem of open source migration. This book extends the applicability of strategic management frameworks to free open source migration. The framework that this book presents was developed using different strategic management perspectives. Managers who are considering migrating their organisation's IT to open source will benefit from this book. The book can also be used to teach in both the fields of strategic management and Open Source Software.
