It is a standard per ANSI-B 3.12 1975.Template:March 2010 Taylor Hobson was founded by William Taylor with his brother in Leicester in 1886 this was originally a lens making company. He was responsible for developing the world's highest quality cinema lenses which helped to develop the film industry in the early twentieth century. As they began to manufacture more accurate lenses, they realised they needed instruments that would measure the perfection of each lens. They invented something themselves, the first Talysurfs and Talyronds.
