Taxonomy, Ethnobotany and Phytochemistry of Moroccan lavender

The present work deals with the study of eight species of lavender indigenous to Morocco; they are Lavandula stoechas L., Lavandula dentata L., Lavandula mairei Humbert. (Endemic), Lavandula pedunculata (Mill.) Cav.,Lavandula multifida L., Lavandula maroccana Murb. (endemic) and Lavandula pedunculata (Mill.) Cav. subsp. atlantica (Braun-Blanq.) Romo(endemic) and Lavandula angustifolia Mill. The latter species is cultivated while the other seven grow wild. Throughout this work, different aspects concerning lavender are discussed, biogeography, systematics, ethnobotany and finally phytochemistry.
