Technical Management for Mechanical Risk Reduction

The main objective of this document was to develop technical management to reduce mechanical risks in the operation of forklifts for warehouse owners and forklift operators in a metal-mechanic company in Ecuador, because a series of hazards are generated, which will become risks and in turn generate possible occupational accidents and/or diseases. Once the six main hazards that generate mechanical risks were identified, the evaluation was carried out using William Fine's methodology and prioritized in the two jobs. Prevention measures were proposed to the company, focusing on compliance with the country's legal requirements and related to the operation of forklifts. The company was also proposed to implement pre-use checks and preventive maintenance programs for the forklifts, as well as training and verification of compliance with regulations. The implementation of the measures was complete and control systems were developed for continuous monitoring of health and safety management.
