Television and the role it plays in Early Childhood Education
Details
The merits and demerits of television as a tool for the development and education of children has been the subject of debate for decades. This discourse is still seen as important by child educators and theorists. In an attempt at contributing to this discussion, the writer of this book conducted a study to assess the use of television as a tool for education. The study focuses on the area of early childhood education and development for the reason that it is an under-researched field in Ethiopia. To gain a deeper understanding of the issue, the study is based on a local children television program called Tsehai Loves Learning. The study was conducted in 2007 and hence, there could be some recent information that it does not include. The book can lend useful insight for scholars and researchers who want to conduct studies in similar fields. It could also give a valuable input for program designers in the area of early childhood education and development.
