Telling Tales

As adults, we find moments when it is easy to recall the excitement and creativity of early childhood. What is it that engages children in an imaginary world of play and how as artists can we recapture this magic? This is an investigation into how children perceive their visual worlds and how they interact with pictorial stimulus. Find out how pictures can create an imaginative leap in the mind of a child and discover how creativity can be encouraged through narrative formation. "The nature of perception and how we interpret our world holds the key to designing stimulating imaginative material for future generations...today we are constantly bombarded with visual stimulus, but how often does it engage us or provide us with meaning? We need to be inspired, we need to be challenged and most importantly we need to enjoy taking part in the process."

Sarah-jayne Mary Kyte currently works as a free-lance illustrator. After graduating from Lincoln University with an Illustration degree she went on to complete an M.a in Authorial Illustration at University college Falmouth in 2009.
