Territorial Intelligence as Engine for the History of Future

The relationship between local and global situations is strongly conditioned by transformations in the regulatory and institutional apparatus. The process of fluidisation and multi-stratification regulations is strictly connected to the spread of degenerative dynamics that pervade more and always wider territories. Cities and territories evolve in the border areas losing any real sense of identity. One of the main issues discussed in this text is the relationship between territory and development and the need to remodel the traditional type of territorial configurations The second part of the text deals directly with the problem of a specific territory-laboratory, the Caserta Conurbation, characterised by congestion and a dispersed form of urbanisation together with serious environmental pollution. The indicators used for the analysis of the Conurbation and the evaluation of the data collected, both the official estimates and those collected directly on the territory, have led to the highlighting of the weaknesses, opportunities and actual resources present in the territory.
