Textile Techniques in Furniture Design
Details
The present book is targeted to all that are interested in Furniture Design and its last tendencies. It is an attempt to demonstrate the focus of modern design toward textile techniques: weaving and knitting. Although they are used in another area of life, they offer new form-building possibilities and constitute a creative trend with a perspective. The book looks at different techniques; it provides an overview of materials for these techniques, as well as a historical survey of wicker furniture. The authors, impressed by the great variety of examples, selected a number of the best pieces and studied them in an attempt to classify the application of weaving and knitting in different furniture types, their functions, qualities and new structural solutions. It is their hope that in this way, the inspired experimental work of both established design creators and young professionals is going to be better known to a wider public.
