The Adventures on Turtle Island

Content of the Book: In the farthest reaches of the universe, just beyond the Hula-Hula constellation, Emma and Ben live on a planet called Honu and unknowingly trash their beautiful island. Many animals get stuck in the garbage and suffer because of it. When the planet's guardian fairy draws the children's attention to the pollution, they feel guilty and want to make up for their mistake. The fairy gives the children magical tools like garbage cans that never get full and grabbers that never break. Will the children manage to clean up their island from the trash in time and make the island an idyllic place for flora and fauna alike? About the Book: The world in the book is a derivative of our planet Earth and deals with the issue of pollution and conservation. The appearance of nature and animals is based on tropical islands (e.g., Hawaii). Even the names in the story come from the Hawaiian language (e.g., "Honu" means turtle). Kindergarten and elementary school children can thus connect our world and the fantasy world in the book and get in touch with the topic of nature pollution and waste separation in a loving way. The children consider whether garbage belongs in nature and what happens when we dispose of garbage there. In the book, waste separation is presented in an entertaining way, so that the colorful garbage cans are no longer a mystery for our offspring.

Environmental protection is becoming more and more important, and the medium of picture books is an existing learning portal for children. With my picture book, I manage to capture the children's interest in environmental protection, so that the pedagogical staff or parents can expand on this topic. The imaginative story manages to offer the children the topic of environmental pollution and waste separation in an entertaining way. After all, today's children are tomorrow's adults.

Olga Noll, 1985 in Russland geboren, wuchs bis zu ihrem 12. Lebensjahr in Sibirien auf und lernte dort die Schönheit der Natur und die Vermüllung durch den Menschen kennen. Im Jahr 1997 kam sie als Spätaussiedlerin nach Bayern, wo sich ihre deutschen Wurzeln befinden. Nach Schulabschluss absolvierte sie die 5-jährige Ausbildung zur staatlich anerkannten Erzieherin. In ihrem Beruf entdeckte sie ihre Faszination für Geschichten und Kinderbücher. Sie merkte auch, dass die Themen Umweltschutz und Umwelt-verschmutzung immer stärker in den Vordergrund rückten. Nebenbei brachte sie sich das Malen und Zeichnen bei. Durch viele Angebote für Kindergartenkinder entstand schließlich die Idee zum Buch Die Abenteuer auf der Schildkröten-Insel. Olga Noll lebt als Autorin und Illustratorin im Landkreis Augsburg.
