Details

As the field of objectivity and bias has always been
debated in mass media, an analysis of political
newspaper articles before and after the terror
attack at the beginning of the Bush administration
gives a perfect opportunity to study how this
phenomenon was changed by such an event. This book
provides one hundred and forty-five articles dealing
with the Bush agenda and foreign and internal
affairs taken from Republican and Democrat partisan
newspapers.
The reader is introduced into the basics of mass
media and their functions, is also guided through
the development of the national newspaper and is
given the main concepts of objectivity and bias.
Three important American daily papers, The
Washington Times, New York Times and The Washington
Post along with Time magazine are contrasted. The
articles examined cover the first presidential year
of George W. Bush, however, they are considered as
two separated periods.
This book is widely useful to students and lecturers
whose interests are focused on the Bush
administration and also for those who would like to
get an inside view of the political skirmishings in
newpaper articles.
