Autorentext
Professor Dunning is an internationally recognised expert in diabetes education and care. She was made a Member of the Order of Australia in the Australia Days Honours list in 2004 for her long standing national and international contribution to nursing and diabetes care. She is a Distinguished Life Member of the Australian College of Nursing, a Life Member of The Australian Diabetes Educators Association and Honour Roll of Victoria Women. She served two consecutive terms from 2010 to 2015 as an elected Vice President of the International Diabetes Federation.
Her clinical and research focus is on diabetes and older people and palliative and end of life care. She is regularly invited to present at national and international conferences and serves on a number of diabetes- and nursing-related consultative groups and advisory boards including Government bodies.
She has authored or edited 12 books, two are in their fourth editions, and contributed chapters to20 other books, some in their second and third editions. She has authored over 300 peer-reviewed or invited journal articles and published creative short stories, flash fiction and poetry. She peer reviews for several journals, averaging 60 peer- reviews per year, and is a member of the advisory board of several peer-reviewed journals.
